Resolving conflicts with family mediation

Conflicts can arise in many life situations, be it in special circumstance's such as separations and divorces or deaths, within families between generations. Examples could be succession planning, family businesses or patchwork and rainbow families.
If you want to part peacefully, share property, secure your livelihood and give your children a good future, mediation is a suitable procedure.
Inheritances often trigger conflicts. Heirlooms and assets have to be divided, (extended) families have to be reorganized, and what happens to the house and the real estate? Mediation helps to answer these questions.
Generational conflicts arise due to different values and beliefs between the generations. Mediation can be useful in these cases, be it in conflicts with parents or children, with grandparents, due to grandchildren/children or in completely different situations that arise specifically in your family.
Conflicts are also normal in rainbow and patchwork families, but unfortunately often a little more complicated: who is responsible for whom, what for , where do you want to work together, what do you want to do separately?

Finally, when it comes to succession planning in family businesses, conflicts can arise both at the workplace and in the family. Yet they can still be intertwined: Being founder and father, successor and daughter is sometimes not so easy to tell apart. Mediation helps to clarify the roles and facilitate a smooth handover.

In all these situations, mediation offers an effective way of resolving conflicts and creating a positive future for all parties involved.

How do I convince the other parties involved?

Mediation requires the willingness of all parties to enter into a discussion. This is not always easy. Very often our clients believe that their conflict partner is not prepared to engage in mediation.

But at least you have something to offer: Obviously the resolution of the conflict and a good relationship with precisely these other parties is very important to you, and you are prepared to initiate mediation to achieve this. And your conflict partners will certainly also benefit from mediation - talk to them!

We would also be happy to advise you in advance on this step.

How long does family mediation take?

Our clients choose different formats. In the case of separation mediation, we typically accompany you over a longer period of time with several sessions lasting around 2 hours. Other conflicts, for example inheritance disputes, can sometimes be resolved in one or two sessions, for which we take a whole day. And your conflict may need a completely different format - let's find out together.

What does family mediation cost?

Mediation is charged by the hour. Our fee varies between € 150 and € 250 per hour. This is roughly equivalent to the cost of legal advice. The parties involved usually share the fee. We will be happy to work out together how much you can expect to pay.

Client after Family Mediation

“When I woke up this morning and thought about the day, I realized that I was fine - tired and exhausted - but fine. I now think of my daughter without hostility - even though she is still very distant from me, but I can let her have that, and me too. And I realized that my greatest wish had come true: to think of my daughter without hostility. Thank you for your soooo much needed intensive help!!!!”
